STUDENTS

The Women’s College Research Institute (WCRI) operates a successful summer student program giving young investigators with an interest in women's health a taste of a career in research. The Women's Health Student Experience places students with WCRI Faculty and CRWH members, and has proven very successful for all involved.

Student placements are full-time (36.25 hours a week) for a 16-week period from May to August. Students receive a modest salary in return for their work in this program.

In addition to the specific project tasks, students in the WHSE program will attend a series of Research Skills Sessions in which current research is presented by CRWH Members and WCRI Staff. Also as part of this series, each student will make a brief presentation of their summer research project near the end of their student placement to their peers, followed by final Research Skills session.

The 2006 summer program had recently gained some new momentum. Thanks to a generous donation from the Women's College Hospital Association of Volunteers the WHSE program continues to grow.
